After this was posted in the mountix.com blog (click here) there supposedly was a fierce competition for the Therm-a-rest Dreamer spots. Nevertheless, I made it through.
Meaning: I am now the proud owner of an Antares Sleeping bag and a mat, that reminds me of the USS Nimitz because of its size. The system of sleeping bag and mat is covered in detail on the Therm-a-rest homepage: Antares.
This is something really clever, I’d say. Back in his days Lance started looking into all of his equipment, that beforehand was gathered from various sponsors, and brought them together in the so called F1 group. By designing for instance helmet and glasses matching perfectly, they were able to contribute to Lance’s Tour de France victories.
Therm-a-rest now does the same for sleeping bags. Sleeping systems I have to say. The insulation of the mat is integral part of the system, thereby allowing to strip insulation from the bag. From taking away down where they are useless anyways because of the compression when you lie in them, the Antares weighs in at 980 grams. Still it feels comfortable and you can feel the downs on the upper part.
I have yet to sleep in it, but from my first impression, this is going to be an interesting one.
One of my fellow dreamers already managed to log in a video, check it out on Vimeo: click here.
